From request to voice transmission
In an on-network group call with floor control, the client requests permission to transmit. The server applies arbitration rules and may grant, deny or queue the request. A grant tells the user that they may speak.
The project should verify how the device indicates each state, including denied requests and requests awaiting permission. Assess the button, audio, accessories and use in noisy environments. The team needs to recognize when to speak and confirm understanding of operational messages.
Priority needs assessment at each layer
Assess floor priority rules separately from network traffic treatment. Quality of service integration depends on infrastructure and agreements between the MCPTT provider and the operator. An application cannot create this condition on its own.
Define which functions will be used, who will be authorized and how they will be configured. Do not treat an emergency button as proof of expected behavior: include activation, reception and team procedures in testing of the proposed solution.
Tests and operations need the same scenario
Request documentation of specifications, Releases and client, server and device versions. TS 36.579-1 describes a common MC testing environment over LTE; the documents and tests applicable to the assessed implementation must be selected within their defined scope.
Alongside protocol tests, validate the solution in the field under representative load and record interruptions, recovery and areas without coverage. Plan power, support and contingencies. Acceptance should connect each requirement to the test performed and the limitations observed.
What to assess for your project
- Check indications for granted, denied and queued floor requests.
- Review the functions, versions and authorizations actually implemented.
- Confirm network integration and quality of service agreements.
- Test load, coverage, failures and continuity procedures.

How COM3 can help
Following a diagnosis, COM3 may assess professional communications requirements and MCPTT integration options with suppliers and network owners. Planning may include acceptance criteria and tests, depending on technical feasibility and functions demonstrated in the solution.
