INFRASTRUCTURE / MOBILE NETWORKS

Private networks
LTE 4G / 5G

Engineering, deployment and integration of mobile networks for industrial sites and remote operations. From radio access to the EQXCore network core, the design follows field conditions and operational requirements.

01 / ENGINEERING

The terrain, the traffic
and the operation.

A large site, a yard with moving assets and a metal-clad building call for different solutions. The survey brings these conditions into the network design.

Engineering areaWhat the design covers
01Radio coverage
Terrain, buildings, vegetation, travel routes and indoor areas guide the positioning of base stations and antennas.
02Capacity and traffic
Concurrent users, video, telemetry and data transfers inform sizing, including periods of peak demand.
03Backhaul and transport
Fiber, links and the IP network connect radio sites to the core. Capacity, routing and availability need to support the applications.
04Power and infrastructure
Power supply, backup autonomy, electrical protection, grounding, structures and maintenance access are part of deployment.
05SIM and access control
Registration, provisioning, revocation and terminal compatibility need defined criteria and accountable owners.
06Segregation and QoS
Traffic policies, priorities and network separation are assessed against the architecture’s capabilities and validated with the applications.

03 / RADIO AND CORE

Radio infrastructure.
Network core.

NokiaRAN / LTE / 5G

Radio stations and coverage.

Nokia radio equipment can form part of the access infrastructure, depending on the selected solution. Engineering defines installation locations, antennas, transport and terminals for each area.

EQXCoreCOM3 / CORE

The network management layer.

EQXCore is COM3’s own solution for building and managing private LTE and NR mobile networks. The core is planned alongside applications and the operation’s data paths.

Versions, functions, interfaces and compatibility between radio and core are confirmed through project engineering and testing.

04 / REFERENCE ARCHITECTURE

Four parts,
one data path.

Devices, radio, core and applications are assessed together. This diagram organizes the functions without replacing the detailed project design.

  1. SIM / TERMINALS

    Devices

Compatible routers, tablets, sensors and cameras.

  2. LTE / 5G NR

    Radio access

Base stations, antennas and coverage. eNodeB for LTE; gNodeB for 5G NR.

  3. EQXCore

    Core

Access and data forwarding according to the defined architecture.

  4. OT / IT NETWORK

    Applications

Operational systems, the corporate network and authorized services.

Conceptual diagram. Core location, internet access, segregation and QoS policies depend on the architecture and the functions validated for the installation.

OPERATIONAL APPLICATIONS

Data where the work takes place.

Telemetry across distributed installations, maintenance tablets, professional communication and video can share connectivity planning. Each application enters the design with its own traffic and availability requirements.

05 / DEPLOYMENT AND ACCEPTANCE

From site survey
to field testing.

The pilot uses the operation’s terminals and applications. Acceptance brings together measurements, failure scenarios and documentation, with criteria agreed for the environment.

  1. Survey and design

Areas, users, applications, infrastructure, spectrum and responsibilities.

  2. Pilot and integration

Architecture validation with representative radio, core, SIM and devices.

  3. Installation and testing

Coverage at locations and along routes, concurrent traffic, mobility and recovery from failures.

  4. Handover and operation

Configurations, documentation, team guidance, monitoring and maintenance.

Decisions before deployment.

LTE or 5G?

Applications, available spectrum, terminals and planned evolution guide the choice. Different 5G architectures require specific validation.

Does it need internet?

Processing and services can remain within the operational environment when the architecture supports this. External integrations depend on the corresponding transport. Testing includes loss of internet or backhaul.
